ABOUT MATTER

We built Matter because coaches were drowning in data and starving for decisions.

Every athlete wears a performance tracker. Every coach has a spreadsheet. Nothing connects them to what the coach actually has to decide on a Tuesday at 6:15 AM. Matter is the layer in between — reading every signal, drafting the next decision, and waiting for your approval.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

Coaches don’t need more data. They need fewer decisions to make alone.

Wearables collect signals by the billion. Program tools organise sets and reps. Neither one tells a head coach which three athletes need a lighter day on Wednesday, or which parent email to send this morning, or whether Jordan is genuinely overreaching or just sleep-deprived.

That judgement call is the job. It happens a hundred times a week, and it’s usually done in a spreadsheet at 6am with cold coffee. Matter exists so the pattern-matching, the drafting, and the admin happen automatically — and the coach spends their hour on the call that only they can make.

HOW IT WORKS

7 engines. One approval inbox.

Overnight, 7AI engines read every athlete on your roster, score readiness, forecast recovery three days ahead, detect illness and overtraining patterns, draft session adjustments, and prepare messages for athletes, parents, and admins. By the time you’re in the office, the decisions are drafted and waiting for one-tap approval — grounded in peer-reviewed sport science research you can click into.

  • READINESS

    Know who’s ready.

Daily readiness score for every athlete, calculated from HRV, sleep, strain, training load, and check-ins.

  • DECISIONS

    Draft what to change.

Session adjustments, deload triggers, risk flags, parent messages, and follow-ups — written, queued, waiting.

  • APPROVAL

    Act in one tap.

One inbox. One tap per action. Nothing runs without the coach approving it — the AI drafts, you decide.

WHO IT’S FOR

Built for coaches who lose hours to the in-between work.

  • S&CStrength & conditioning coaches managing 15–150 athletes who need readiness context and load-sensitive workout tweaks without rebuilding programs daily.
  • SKILLHead coaches and skill coaches who design practices around who’s actually ready to train today, not generic weekly plans.
  • ATCAthletic trainers and performance directors who need cross-roster risk flags, return-to-play protocols, and audit-ready documentation.
  • CLUBClub and multi-sport programs that need multi-coach workflows, parent communication, and roster-wide compliance automation.
TEAM · FOUNDER STORY

Built by a D1 swimmer turned gym owner who lived both sides of the problem.

Matter’s founder was a Division I swimmer at Colgate, balancing two passions: swimming and lifting. That split led to overuse injuries, coaching decisions that didn’t account for what was actually happening in the pool that week, and training plans that looked great on paper but ignored the body underneath them.

After college he opened a gym and started coaching himself — and discovered the other half of the problem. Truly individualising a session for each athlete, understanding their context, balancing that against admin, programming, and billing for dozens of clients at once is almost impossible to do well. Every coach he talked to was doing it with spreadsheets, guesswork, and 6 AM coffee.

Matter is the tool he wished both sides of that experience had — athletes whose readiness context is actually seen, and coaches who get their evenings back.
